XCOM Enemy Unknown (The Facebook Saga #12)

Squad report 12

Operation: Dying Fist

Squad lineup:

  • MAJ."Spider" O'Hare (Sniper/Second in command)
  • MAJ."Crater" Senghaas (Demolitions/Team leader)
  • CPT."Boomer" Moore (Pointman)
  • CPT."Cash" Monsegue (Assault specialist)
  • SQ. Stevens (Enginner/Sniper)
  • RK. E.Senghaas (Assault/Scout)

While Operation "Bloody King" proved fatal for SGT."Crash" Parker, it alerted XCOM command that they had become complacent. Thinking they had already given the soilders the best armor and weapons the possibly could, they stopped all research into furthering the technology they aquired from missions past.

After mere hours of debate, XCOM command granted an unlimited fund to the Research and Engineering departments so that the soldiers will always have THE most powerful weapons and armor that earth can provide.

The first such advanced armor is what is being called the "TITAN" armor.
This armor renders the wearer virtually unstoppable. Aside from boosting the wearer's physical attributes (speed, strength etc) it also makes them fireproof, water proof, weather proof. The suit has a self circulating filtration system which means the wearer will never be poisoned by any form of gas, man made or otherwise.

This new suit of armor was issued to  Captain Moore as he, more than any other soldier, needs it the most. Being the point man, he will need as much protection as he can get as he storms fearlessly (and most times blindly) into enemy positions.

The development teams are still hard at work to produce even more armors with varying purposes.

Operation "Dying Fist" was another UFO crash site sanitation. This time, the Squad had no team medic. XCOM command deemed that for this particular mission, no medic was needed but instead they introduced an Engineer (SQ Stephens) and a Scout (RK E.Senghaas).

RK E.Senghaas is every bit as dangerous as her husband.
Interesting note, Rookie E.Senghaas is indeed Major Senghaas' wife. This was noted by the command staff and due to the nature and severity of the alien invasion, they had no choice (and no other soldiers trained as scouts) but to put them on the same team.

Politics aside the team ventured forward to complete their objective.

This time led by MAJ "Crater" Senghaas, the team played everything by the book. The chain of command remained solidly intact as MAJ Senghaas gave orders to the troopers while continuing to suppress or explode the enemies in his sight.

In the end, the mission was yet another stunning success and many artifacts were recovered! I wonder what the boys and girls in R&D will come up with next?

XCOM: Enemy Unknown (The Facebook Saga #11)

Squad report 11

Operation: Bloody King

Squad lineup:

  • CPT."Cash" Monsegue (Assault Specialist)
  • CPT."Boomer" Moore (Pointman)
  • MAJ."Spider" O'Hare" (Sniper/Second in command)
  • CPT."Crater" Senghaas (Demolitions)
  • CPT."Doc" Wallace (Medic)
  • SGT."Crash" Parker (Heavy Weapons/Team Leader

Operation "Bloody King" put the team's trust and team work to the absolute test. Not only was the objective to eliminate all hostiles, but this mission took place in a city full of civilians. Trying to balance fighting off the heavy amounts of invaders and evacuating the civilians, the team leaders, Major O'Hare and Sargent Parker, we at each other's throat. While Major O'Hare thought it best to aid the civilians, the Sargent deemed that course of action as suicidal as the civilians (the one's indicated by O'Hare" were too far out of reach. In his mind, to try to save those civilians would not only doom the would be rescuers, but also all the other civilians trying to escape as well.

In the end, the Major "pulled rank" and sent SGT. Parker alongside CPT. Wallace to retrieve the civilians. This course of action proved to be fatal. While advancing at speed towards the civilians, an enemy Chrysslid burst through a storefront window and eviscerated Sargent"Crash" Parker
CPT. "Doc" Wallace was knocked away from Parker's side by one of the creature's flailing limbs. This granted the good doctor a chance to fire on both the alien that killed the Sargent AND one that was advancing upon him.
Dr. (CPT) Wallace exacting his revenge

The sudden silence of SGT.Parker's comm seemed to shock the troops into clarity. It is sad that it took the death of  a team mate for them to stop bickering and work together.  CPT."Boomer" Moore stepped up and began barking orders at the remaining troops.

MAJ." O'Hare fell silent. Her team mates described her as having a"thousand yard stare" D.R Wallace confirms that she went into shock after having one of her team mates die from a "bad call".

Bang!
The team made short work of what was left of the alien forces and saw to it that MOST of the civilians made it on to the "SKYRANGER" unharmed. But the death of SGT."Crash" Parker loomed heavy in their hearts. Parker was the last surviving member of  the original team's line up. Now it felt as if a curtain had come down on an era. The last great warrior of Team01 was laid to rest. His sacrifice will always be remembered.

Rest in Peace
Sargent Joshua "Crash" Parker.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown (The Facebook Saga #10)

Squad report 10
Operation: Cryptic Ring

Squad lineup:

  • CPT."Cash" Monesegue (Assault Specialist)
  • LT."Boomber" Moore (Pointman)
  • CPT."Spider" O'Hare (Sniper/Second in command)
  • CPT."Crater" Senghaas (Demolitions)
  • CPT."Doc" Wallace (Medic)
  • SQ. Parker (Heavy Weapons/Team leader)

This mission, over all others so far, was set to be the most dangerous. While most missions were to combat entrenched aliens or to clean up the survivors of UFO crashes, this UFO managed to land, with ALL her crew still alive. The squad knew for a fact going in that there would be heavy resistance. Perhaps the heaviest yet. But still, the brave souls of Team Valor suited up and prepared themselves for the mission.

As soon as the squad was within visual range, the invader surged forward with their deadly plasma weapons. Captain Senghaas responded in kind, introducing them to his trademark rocket launcher. The entire first wave met their end at that moment.

The squad stormed the ship leaving behind no survivors and working in concert to make sure no man was left behind or uncovered.

Once inside Lieutenant Moore came face to face with what we are now calling the "Outsider". A creature that seemed to made almost completely of energy!

"Boomer" was quoted during the mission debrief "I have no clue, HOW that thing missed but it did." The Lieutenant, angered by what he calls "a cheap shot" from the Outsider, hit the being with his laser rifle's stock. The creature crumpled to the ground unconscious and was subsequently contained in the XCOM containment facility. Who know what we will discover from this creature?

XCOM: Enemey Unknown (The Facebook Saga #9)

Squad Report 09

Operation: Cold Sleep

Squad lineup:

  • LT."Cash" Monsegue (Assault Specialist)
  • LT."Boomer" Moore (Pointman)
  • CPT."Spider" O'Hare (Sniper/Second in command)
  • LT."Crater" Senghaas (Demolitions)
  • LT."Doc" Wallace (Medic)
  • SQ. Parker (Heavy weapons/Team lead)

This mission marked the return of squad veteran Joshua Parker. Wounded in what is now called "The XCOM massacre", SQ.Parker was unable to lead the team for many missions as he recovered. He returns now to a very different squad. How this change affects him will have to be seen.

With the technology recovered on their previous outing  the XCOM science and engineering departments we able to create "beam weaponry". This technology mimics that of the aliens and has prove to be extremely effective in penetrating their armor.

Sent in to rescue XCOM scientist Dr Kennth Daniels, who was abducted from his home and taken to a decommissioned chemical plant, the squad played everything by the numbers. Returning squad leader SQ.Parker was not intimidated by his crew's higher ranks.

He lead his team firmly through the plant with no deaths or injuries. Once they found the VIP, he assigned team medic LT.(Dr)Wallce as his personal body guard. That way should anything happen, "Doc" would be able to fix it on the spot.

LT."Boomer" Moore and LT."Crater" Senghaas remained on the field holding off seemingly endless wave after wave of aliens as the team made their escape with the VIP in tow.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown (The Facebook Saga #8)

 Squad Report 08

Operation: Forgotten Calm

Squad Lineup:

  • LT. "Spider" O'Hare (Sniper)
  • SGT. "Crater" Senghass (Demolitions)
  • LT. "Boomer" Moore (Pointman)
  • LT. "Doc" Wallace" (Medic)
  • SGT. "Cash" Monsegue (Assault Specialist)

Today the team overcome insane odds to pull a victory seemingly out of the very maw of death. Sent to investigate reports of possible alien invader presence in what is now considered a "lost" area of Nigeria.
The mission, originally, was to search for survivors and extract them but this quickly became a fight for their very lives as it became utterly apparent that the invaders were expecting the XCOM team.
"Mutons" prepare to flank the squad

The were met with heavy fire from all manner of alien sub species. Sectoids, Thin Men...they even came across what seem to be some form of, for lack of a better term, "mutated green gorilla". We have taken to calling them "Mutons".

At the sight of these monsters, LT "Doc" Wallace went into an uncontrollable panic and began firing off  rounds and tossing grenades. This proved to be rather devastating as he  was unlucky enough to catch the ricochet from one of his own shots resulting in  multiple phalengeal fractures to his left hand.

Seeing the panic in his team mate's eyes, LT. "Boomer" Moore took matter into his own hands by subduing the manic doctor and proceeding to lay waste to any enemy contact he could see.

By the time the dust settled, the squad came out on top and had recovered so many alien weapons that we are confident we'll be able to back engineer them and give our soldiers yet ANOTHER bit of advanced technology to help in the fight against this monumental threat.

XCOM: Enemy Uknown (The Facebook Saga #7)

 Squad report 07

Operation: Crimson Whisper

Squad lineup:

  • CPL. Monsegue (Assault Specialist)
  • SGT. "Boomer" Moore (Pointman)
  • LT. "Spider" O'Hare (Sniper)
  • SGT. Senghaas (Demolitions)
  • LT. "Doc" Wallace (Medic)

Donning their new "Carapace" armor, "Team Valor" hit the battlefield with a sense of confidence that was never felt in the ranks of XCOM before! Responding to reports of a downed UFO, the squad met with little resistance as they mowed through hordes of Sectoids and "Thin Men".

All members of the squad worked together watching each other's backs and laying down covering fire when needed to advance upon the downed vessel. This time however CPL. Christian Monsegue shone the brightest as he put his master level Chess playing skills into action. Always out flanking the enemy, he racked up three kills earning him a promotion. We hope to see more of the same from him.

Although the mission was a success and all member made it back to base unharmed, SGT. Senghaast was unable to control himself when it mattered the most. The main objective was to capture a live specimen of another new alien type for study, but the SGT's trigger finger was a bit to jumpy and he slayed the alien as soon as it made an appearance. Although his skills on the field are unquestionable (he has the HIGHEST kill count ever recorded), I must wonder if we'll ever have another chance at grabbing a live specimen of that new alien type...

XCOM: Enemy Uknown (The Facebook Saga #6)

Status report 06

Operation: First Knife

Squad Lineup:

  • SQ. Monsegue (Assault Specialist)
  • CPL. Moore (Pointman)
  • LT. "Spider" O'Hare (Sniper)
  • CPL."Crater" Senghaas (Demolitions)
  • LT "Doc" Wallace (Medic)

The squad was rustled in the early hours of the morning from their bunks by the sound of alarm klaxons blaring. XCOM intel showed MAJOR invader force movement at the center of Melbourne, Australia.

As the unit loaded up into the "SKYRANGER", SQ Parker was pulled from the line up at the last minute. Furious at this decision, he stormed off to the barracks. The rest of the squad however, strapped in and prepared themselves for would could possibly be their last ride.

As soon as their transport hit the ground, the team sprang into action. Each knew where they had to be and what they had to do. CPL. Moore led the charge, it seems he has no qualms at all throwing himself into harms way for the greater good.

Wasting no time he immediately kicked down a storefront door and filled the shocked (maybe even scared?) alien Sectiod's brain with buckshot. His squadmates report that he also took the time to spit on it's corpse...

LT. "Spider" O'Hare, hung back to observe and assess the situation. Calculating the best locations and tactics for the team, she quietly sent orders to her team mates via their ear pieces.

With a unified team effort the team was able to complete this operation with no loss of life! CPL.Moore once again proved his worth by capturing yet ANOTHER live specimen. This one, dubbed "Thin Man" seems to be almost human like in it's appearance, except for it's eyes which it covers with dark circular shades.

After HOURS of interrogation and an autopsy, the Science and Engineering departments were able to produce new armor for the soldiers!
New "Carapace" armor

Heavy Weapons/Demolitions variant of the "Carapace" armor

This armor provides the much needed protection from the invaders' plasma and laser based weapons. Things are beginning to look up! I hope I didn't just jinx us...

XCOM: Enemy Uknown (The Facebook Saga #5)

Status report 05

Operation: Flying Blade

Squad lineup:

  • SGT. "Spider" O'Hare
  • SQ. Senghaas
  • SQ. Moore
  • SGT. "Doc" Wallace
  • RK. Monsegue

Zombies...The council couldn't believe what they had seen. While responding to an all out alien assault in the city of Manchester, the squad came across yet another variant of alien invader now dubbed the        "Chryssalid"

This particular species of alien was a horrifying sight to behold. What was worse was it's means of  dispatching it's victims. The Chryssalid attacks and kills it's "prey" with it's many spines and claws. Then, a mere moments later, the dead victim REANIMATES and attacks all non alien creatures around it.

If this wasn't enough, the "zombie", if left unchecked will then mutate into a Chryssalid itself! The brave warriors of Team Valor stood fast even in the face of this...words fail to describe this new threat.

Joining the team on this mission was one of XCOM's medical staff, for the sake of order he was given a field promotion to the rank SGT, but Dr. Steven Wallace proved himself today both as a combat medic AND a soldier. He was sure to render aid to the people of Manchester as the fled to the "SKYRANGER" for extraction.

SQ. Moore once against showed his courage and strength by charging head first, shot gun drawn, ready to jam it into the face of ANY who would stand in his way. SQ Senghaas showed great restraint in NOT blasting the entire city block to ash with his arsenal of grenades and rockets, instead opting to provide a supporting role in covering his team mates and the evacuees.

RK. Monsegue, usually a quiet and calculating individual, seemed to find his inner strength as he too charged ferociously into the fray, spraying lead and obscenities along the way. SGT. "Spider" O'hare took to the high ground on the top of a bus and relayed tactics and commands to her squad. Her leadership is proving to be extremely reliable.

In other news, SQ.Parker has made a full recovery and is once again ready for action! Is he ready to take his place as leader of the team? Will "Spider" follow his orders? I can't wait to see what happens next!

XCOM: Enemy Uknown (The Facebook Saga #4)

Status report 04

Operation: Blind Rain

Squad line up:

RK. Monsegue
SQ. Moore
SGT. "Spider" O'Hare
SQ. Senghaas
SQ. Stephens

After the tragic deaths of  almost the entire "Team Valor" line up, the council members of XCOM began to take a serious look at it's soldiers and their capabilities. With the taste of death still fresh in their mouths, they saw fit to open the new "XCOM Officer Academy" to train new and current soldiers on the alien enemies and their tools of death.

After months of training (and with SQ Parker still in occupational rehabilitation) the squad's newest lineup is filled with warriors and scholars alike.

Getting ready to charge!
From SQ.Moore's up close and personal combat style,

"Eat rocket you filthy alien *********" SQ.Senghaas
to SQ.Senghaas' blow everything up demeanor.

SQ Stephens taking cover

Team work at it's finest
This new team boasts talent that even the invader's can't ignore.

The last operation was a astounding recovery from that last.

Not only was the operation a success, but SQ.Moore also succeeded in subduing and returning a LIVE specimen! With this prisoner we will now be able to extract much needed information that will help us combat these seemingly unbeatable foes!

We can only hope that we can figure out the intricacies of these beings as soon as possible, and give our men and women on the field that much needed equalizer...or maybe even the edge.
